Our History
Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle was formed October 15, 1953 with
Rev. William Green as the Pastor and services being held in a small
white church in Monroeville. The church services moved from Monroeville
to the old theater in Elmer, before the church family started to build
our new church on Route 40, three miles east of Elmer.
With the direction of Les Garrison and help from Milton
Clark and Earl Clark, the land was cleared in September 1954, with working crews made up of
the church family. With the pouring of cement, laying of blocks, steel
reinforcements, wood being sawed and hammering, the Lords house was
being built. The church was finished enough for our church family to
move in by spring of 1955. We used the old theater chairs and made use
of what we had. It was Gods house, a place to worship.

As we near our 60th year of ministry coming in 2013, plans are being made for a 6,000
square foot
multipurpose building to house gymnasium, kitchen,
bathrooms, church offices, and game room.
We are thankful to God for allowing us to be stewards of His ministry,
and trust His continued blessing until He comes for us in the clouds.
